Granizado de melón y hierbabuena /Spearmint and melon shaved ice.

Si no, necesitaréis unas 3-4 horas.

I guess I could say that I've basically spent my summer eating. I get out of my house and I'm incapable of eating something light in a restaurant, it's almost as if it was a sin, so as I travel back home I start thinking in the wonderful world of vegetables and fruits. But of course, it's summer and therefor there is the great world of ice-creams/sherbets, to which I'm incapable of saying no. So yesterday, after being eating huge quantities of food for almost a week, I decided that I deserved a dessert rather than a simple piece of fruit, so I made this recipe I'm posting.  I had tried it a couple of times but it had always tasted too much to lemon and spearmint and you couldn't almost find the melon flavor.  The Santa Claus melon has a very fragile flavor so, if you add lemon and too much spearmint to it, it tastes almost as a mojito. And that is one of the reasons because of why you shouldn't use any kind of Santa Claus melon. Yes, I mean those that are crunchy and could almost pass as a cucumber. It has to be sweet and flavorful.  If not, you may rather put a lot of lemon, sugar and spearmint to it, because you are not going to appreciate anything anyway.

INGREDIENTS: (For 4 )
600g piel de sapo or Santa Claus melon (only the meat, without skin).
4 spearmint leaves (medium size)
2 teaspoons of sugar (¡¡¡ONLY if your melon it's not sweet at all!!!)

Rinse the spearmint leaves. Cut the melon in small pieces and place them, with the spearmint, in a blender. Blend everything and pour the content into a jar or tupper ware. Place it in the freezer and every half an our shake it thoroughly until it's well frozen. This will depend on your freezer and how liquid your want it to be, that's up to you. If you prefer it more liquid, it will be fine with a couple of hours, if not you'll need from 3 to 4. In case it freezes too much, you just need to take it out of the freezer for a while and stir it with a fork.
Enjoy it! :)

Note: If you are no willing to wait you can drink it as a shake in a glass with ice-cubes.
